The Sabino Canyon Cache near the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center, Tucson
(Intersection of Sunrise and Sabino Canyon Road)

Message from Cache Owner, 1/6/2002
Check out all the Geocaching.com logs for year 2001 for this cache.

Information about the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center
The Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center can provide information about trails in the canyon. Books, tapes & mementos of
Sabino Canyon and Southern Arizona are offered for sale, as are inexpensive maps of the canyon. Receptionists at the Center also provide
information about scheduled activities for the public, and coordinate guided field trips for elementary school classes. An excellent
nature trail begins at the right of the Visitor's Center, identifying many of the desert plants found in the region.
The Visitor's Center is opened from 8:00am to 4:30 pm, and can be reached at (520) 749-8700.

(Disclaimer: Information and some images above taken directly off Sabino Canyon Visitor Center & Tour Inc.Webpages).

Details about the Sabino Canyon Cache

Directions to the Trailhead

Take Interstate 10 to the Ina Exit, East on Ina. Ina Road turns into Sunrise Road.
Take Sunrise to the end at Sabino Canyon Road, Turn left on Sabino Canyon Road.

The Parking area is to the right. There is a $5.00 day or $20.00 annual parking fee at this
vistor center parking lot. (I was surprised that they just started charging a fee).

The trail starts here (N 32o18.650, W 110o 49.350) in front the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center.
You can either take the Tram Road ahead of you or take the nature trail just
to the right, called the SabinoWalkway. I suggest the nature trail.

At this point, you are about 0.18 miles from the cache.

You have found the Sabino Canyon Cache at the base of this tree
A large-sized coffee can surrounded by medium sized rocks,
(Please replace when finish, no more than two pictures per group, and call/email
the cache owner when camera count is under 5).

Enjoy the surrounding views of the desert. Can you find the small
creature (reptile) in the lower right image?

"I made a stop at your Sabino Canyon cache today as my first experience with geocaching.
Thanks for setting this up! I've attached a picture of myself at the cache --
used my digital camera rather than your film one which has 21 shots left."
